About Me

My photo
I, The Pink Porcupine aka PinkyP, am a wife of 8 years, mother of 3 lil porcupines and volunteer servant for my Lord & Savior Jesus at our church. My children, Lil Smokey is 7, La Leona is 4 going on 15, and Hakuby is ten months. They bring me joy and lots of work everyday. My Big Puercoespin (aka Big Daddy, Perco, or occasionally Smokey) is the best guy ever. He has more patience than I have ever seen and loves us more than anyone else on the planet.

The Home Office Beginnings

Yesterday I spent my time at home preparing space for my home office. Now, our apartment is of good size but we are a family of 5. Plus, I have STUFF. I have my vast collection of Tupperware & Pyrex. I have my overflowing shelves of scrapbooking jazzy. I also have my sewing, crocheting (i can only make a chain), seasonal decorations, softball and ministry stuff. My stuff takes up the hallway closet, half of my kids closet and a corner of my bedroom. Now I'm trying to add a home office. I said my Perco was the most patient guy ever. What was that? How do I have time for all of those hobbies? That's part of my special time with the kids and on occasion my quiet time. Back to the home office, I want to work from home so here is my newest endeavor. I (really its mostly the Perco) have been moving things around. The freezer is going outside which frees up a lot of space in the dining area. The lil fridge in the living room will then go next to the regular fridge. We threw out the broken recliner/rocker. I also threw out dishes that weren't Tupper or Pyrex. That isn't so hard, the next step is parting with the Tupper & Pyrex I don't really use. I seem to think I use them all. You know, seasonally.

So the home office will be used to prepare for Kids Church, Mpact Girls Clubs, translating from English to Spanish, and other assignments from our senior pastor. He has a few lined up for me already. I'm excited to be working from home. Hakuby loves it sooooo much. He is just so much more at ease here. I would be too if all I did was crawl around in a diaper exploring.

God is sooo good!!!

Today, I am working on La Leona's Green Day Party Snack. She loves making pistachio pudding pie. I just didn't have a graham cracker crust (or even graham crackers). So I made one of those walnut crusts. It is cooling right now. La Leona's pudding is in the fridge. After we are done making the pie we are going to work. Hakuby is having fun running around the house right now. I think I'll bring my work home so he can play. Lil Smokey has gone to school, he had me call his school to find out if they were having a Green Day Party. They weren't, poor guy. My house is upside down but I'm feeling good. I'll work on the house later. I love days like this!!!

I'm home now trying to get a bunch of stuff done but still feeling good.

OK, we know that God is good and that he watches us but do we really notice the small things he does? Here are a few things my Heavenly Father has blessed me with....
  1. Yesterday my friend, DizzyD, took me out to lunch. I had all-you-can-eat split pea soup.

  2. The Big Puercoespin was given an awesome TV from a co-worker.

  3. On Sunday I told my BP that I was going to eat @ KFC this week even though I didn't have the $. I was treated today for lunch there on someone else's whim. Or so they thought. ;-)

  4. I told my work that I'm going to work from home more than being in the office. This is more for Hakuby, he's very happy to be crawling around the house.

I understand a bit more of how this helps my friends relax....

It's my first time

So, I've never blogged before. I'm going to see how this goes for me. My friends have found this to be quite comforting and relaxing. Let's see how it goes for me. I guess one of the first things I need to do is figure out what I want to write about. I truly have a lot going on.

I volunteer as our Sr. Pastor's Assistant and interim Kids Church Leader at our church. That means that Hakuby goes with me every day. He is 10 1/2 months old and is VERY active (more than my first two). I've been saying for months that he is getting to big to be in my little office and that I need to start staying home. I tried working in our kids church room so that he had space to crawl but found that it isn't safe for a crawler. I am now praying about working from home. That would cut out being our pastor's assistant and the other small office things I do. I guess I just want to do Kids Church and Wednesday Night Girls Ministry (did I forget to mention that I do that too?).

I am also working on donations for our church's huge annual Easter event. I am so excited that this event is coming!!!! This year I have a team of people working hard on donations. We started early but the economy is really hitting us hard. Like everyone else. The Lord is really blessing our congregation. I can hardly wait for what our Heavenly Father has in store for us!!!
